Various Tutor Roles Available – Singing / Music Department

South West based advantageous but not essential.

Wilkes Academy was founded in 2013 and in twelve years has developed into one of the nation’s leading Musical Theatre training establishments for young people wanting to enter the performing arts industry.

Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts is based in Swindon.  An hour’s commute from both London and Bristol.

As we continue to develop, we are looking for singing and music teachers and specialists (as listed below)

You would be mostly working with students across ages 16 – 25 and across all our qualifications:

Various roles and working days/hours are available.

Roles Available:

  • Technical Singing Teachers (Levels 3-6). These would be to deliver 1 to 1 technical singing training to students in 20-30 minute classes. An understanding of the Estill model would be highly advantageous. An understanding of music theory and basic piano skills also required.
  • Pianists/ Accompanists (Levels 3-6). Working alongside an acting through song lecturer/practitioner, this would suit a repetiteur to play for classes, auditions and assessments. You will be a highly experienced sight reader and have experience of musical theatre genres and styles, including pop. Please see the difference to the ‘Musical Directors’ role.
  • Musical Directors (Levels 3-6). We are looking for musical directors who can apply their skills to teach ‘rep’ and ensemble singing classes. Candidates would need to be able to play, recommend rep for musical theatre, work with students on cuts, and have an understanding of musical theatre industries. Please see the difference to the ‘Pianists/Accompanists’ role.

Professional and industry related experience is essential, as is some experience of Further and Higher Education, but we would also require some time to train you in teaching, learning processes, assessment and feedback standards procedures.
